CBT helps people uncover their anxiety-causing beliefs. These beliefs contain the often unconscious reasons why you think you should be anxious about something. CBT helps people uncover, evaluate, and change these beliefs.
That said, someone “knowing” CBT doesn’t mean one has the skills to uncover conscious and unconscious anxiety-causing beliefs. This may be why some who work with professional and self-help CBT materials and professionals don’t improve.
