This insight can be one of the toughest pills to swallow because it means that there will be times when you get anxious/uncomfortable/nervous when you’d prefer not to. To understand why eliminating anxiety is an imperfect journey, read this article. The key to ensuring you don’t create additional anxiety triggers is to ok (reach a place that you are ok with the event, situation happening) the fact that you will probably get unexpectedly anxious at times. Ok’ing this is critical because if you don’t, you will knowingly or unknowingly create more anxiety triggers.
We typically don’t think we should accept or ok an event, situation, etc, as a way to motivate or remind ourselves that we don’t want to be anxious or experience a fear or trigger we’d like to avoid. We also don’t accept/ok things because we think that would mean we prefer what we don’t want to happen.
Summary: Eliminating anxiety is a journey and it’ll be an imperfect journey because no human is perfect.
