Why Am I Feeling Anxious For No Reason?

We may sometimes say, “I don’t know why I’m anxious, “or I don’t know why I got anxious”, but let’s think about that. You either get anxious for no reason, or get anxious for a reason.

You may also think that things make you anxious, but if things have the power to make us (humans) anxious, aren’t we kind of screwed? That would mean we have no control over ourselves and will have to constantly avoid our triggers to be at peace. This could be devastating if you have goals that demand you encounter things that currently trigger you. One option is medication, but psychiatrists and users of anxiety-medication will tell you that medication doesn’t address the root problem of anxiety and, in some cases, makes things worse (ex: undesirable side effects).

Not only can we show that it’s logical that you have triggers because sometime in the past, you tagged something to be an anxiety trigger, but the whole field of cognitive behavior therapy, which the clinical psychology field supports as one of the gold standards for anxiety, is based on that observation. The critical insight is that you tagged or tag something as an anxiety trigger for one or more reasons. The solution to your anxiety, which becomes clearer when you understand why we (humans) get anxious, is to uncover those reasons that are often deep in your psyche. Uncovering these reasons will require self-reflection but you can rest assured that the answer is in your brain. You just have to dig it out.

The answers you get will often have to be untangled so you can find root cause beliefs causing the anxiety. The solutions and insights we share at Clarity will help you do this work. We assert that some people don’t get better with therapy because some therapists aren’t skilled enough to help people uncover and dismantle unconscious beliefs.

We at Clarity have spent multiple years doing this work. In doing this work with clients, us included, we have learned loads about ourselves and uncovered the root cause beliefs behind many triggers. Doing this work usually results in seeing the world more clearly and objectively and allows you to embrace anxiety as a self-awareness learning opportunity. Our resource for finding and eliminating the root cause of an anxiety trigger is here.
