Or in other words, what does it mean to be insecure about something?

Simply put, being insecure means you’re unhappy about some aspect of yourself. Being unhappy (which means you’re experiencing a negative emotion/feel bad) means you’ve gone beyond just disliking something about yourself. You’ve taken things further and view what you dislike as a reason to feel bad about yourself. You’re probably unconsciously doing this.

In other cases, being insecure also means you view other people disliking some aspect of yourself as a reason to feel bad.

When you’re not sure of something.

What about the moments when you aren’t sure you’re something you want, like being attractive or smart? This becomes an insecurity if you are or would be unhappy if you weren’t the ideal you’re striving for. If you are able to accept not being something ideal–which doesn’t mean you don’t dislike it–you have overcome your insecurity.

We don’t have to be insecure about anything because we don’t have to feel bad when we dislike things. It can be easy to consider this is a possibility and for our readers, the end goal.
